Refugee Artisan Initiative event at The Seattle Gym provides a unique opportunity for members of the gym along with our local community to come together and support a small and growing non-profit started last year by a long-time gym member and active community leader.

The Refugee Artisan Initiative (RAI), empowers refugees and recent immigrants to the United States by providing them the skills and tools to make fashionable jewelry accessories and other fabric products in the comfort and safety of their homes, while paying them competitive market wages. RAI artisans sell their goods through MiMi Globe Goods at local retail shops, fairs, trade shows, and their retail website www.mimiglobegoods.com.

The core goals for the Refugee Artisan Initiative (RAI) for 2018 include:
• Helping refugees and recent immigrants with limited resources to become skilled artisans who are able to work from home earning a market wage for their work.
• Provide materials, equipment, tools and training at no cost to artisans
• Identify and develop and grow sustainable market streams for fabric jewelry, products and accessories
