Laurelhurst Q & A

The information below is intended to help Laurelhurst members navigate the closing process and options available for them.
Read the letter from Mark and Kari.

When is TSG Laurelhurst Closing?
Laurelhurst location will cease operations May 31st 2019.

Why is TSG Laurelhurst Closing?
Over recent years the development and interest level in the Laurelhurst neighborhood has changed as has cost of doing business here. There is also the uncertainty of the neighboring properties and potential expansion. So after 30 years we have been unable to reach a new secure lease that would also provide options for much needed facility upgrades and improvements that we know you are all aware of. Without this security we cannot achieve our vision of the quality facility and customer service we want to provide into the future.

What is status of Queen Anne Club?
We have been located on top Queen Anne Hill for even longer time than Laurelhurst, since 1981. And since we are also owners of the building we have no intent or reason to change that.

How far away is the Queen Anne Club?
The QA club is just over 5 miles from Laurelhurst. Depending on time of day and day of week the drive will take 15+minutes to get there.

Will TSG Laurelhurst continue operating normally till closing?
Our intention will be to operate normal hours and with same class schedule unless there are unforeseen changes.
Any changes to GX schedule will be posted on our website.

What are options for Month To Month Members?
Members may do any of the following:
• Transfer to Queen Anne club with no change
• Convert to a new Queen Anne “PER VISIT” (PV) membership option (see below for details)
• Due to closure date we are not requiring 30 Day notice
• Cancel EFT membership. To do this go to www.TheSeattleGYM.com/Cancel
• Bank processing will take 30 days from when we receive notice

What are Options for PIF Memberships?
Members may do any of the following:
• Transfer to Queen Anne club with no change
• Convert to a new Queen Anne “PER VISIT” membership option (see below for details)
•  Due to closure date we are not requiring 30 Day notice
• Cancel PIF membership. To do this go to www.TheSeattleGYM.com/Cancel
ProRata PIF processing will take 30 days from when we receive notice

What is the new “PER VISIT” (PV) Membership?
The PV Pass is a 10-visit pass option, with a 2-year expiration date.
We recognize that the trip to Queen Anne may be more difficult for some members so we are offering a Trial Per Visit Membership option.
This will allow you to take your favorite class, try out the Gym, meet with your personal trainer on your schedule and terms.

How does PV Work?
EFT Members will have their monthly dues cancelled and then convert to a 10 PV pass.
PIF members will be given credit for any ProRata time left on their membership. This will be transferred to a PV pass

What is Cost of new PV Pass?
Available ONLY for LH members: $99 for 10 visits. (vs $150 regular) Expires 2 years.
Also available ONLY for LH members: Single Drop-In Rate of $12 (vs $19)

What about Personal Training I purchased?
All our Personal Trainers are Independent Contractors so you will need to discuss with them your options.
All our trainers are invited to continue training at the Queen Anne Location. We will also be helping them secure new home locations if they prefer to stay in the LH neighborhood.

What’s happening to the Equipment?
We will be moving some to the Queen Anne location and selling some as well.
We are planning to donate some equipment to local community groups that have been very supportive to us over the years including:
– Children’s Hospital
– Ronald McDonald House
– Laurelhurst Fire Station
– Local school Athletic Depts.
Any Members interested in purchasing specific equipment please let us know.

Has TSG secured other arrangements for members with nearby Clubs?
We are working with a couple of local clubs and will hopefully have details soon.

What will happen to the staff at TSG Laurelhurst?
We value all of our staff immensely. We will be working with each staff member to find other opportunities within TSG Queen Anne as well as other local businesses.

What about the Senior Programs.
Silver and Fit members will be able to continue at the Queen Anne Club.
Silver Sneakers will be ending June 30.

What about my favorite Laurelhurst Instructors and Group Fitness Classes?
We will do our best to add classes featuring some LH instructors as spots open up on the Queen Anne Schedule. We are also looking to expand into some new, available times.
Member input is valuable and appreciated especially if you plan to continue your TSG membership up at QA. We always do our best to serve the membership as a whole, offering classes most requested from all members.
Membership attendance is key to decision making during this transition.
